Going the Extra Mile for Sport Relief

Friday 21st March saw staff and pupils in Years 7, 8, 9 and 11 run as many miles as they could in 1 hour in aid of Sport Relief.  Year 10 pupils had the opportunity to run their miles the following week.  The challenge was for the whole school to run at least 2000 miles.  After a fantastic effort by all concerned the final total was a whopping 2798 miles!  Individual plaudits go to Amelia Leslie and Codie Howe who shared joint first place for running 7.5 miles each, whilst the top performing tutor group was 7MJA who ran 89.5 miles. Durham was the best performing House, clocking up an impressive 688 miles in total.

Pupils purchased wristbands and came in fancy dress for the day. We also held a ‘guess the total miles’ competition which was won by Amber Rodgers.  She wins a signed football kindly donated by Sunderland AFC.  In total over £1250 was raised for Sport Relief.  Once again the generosity of our pupils is astounding and we would like to thank all who took part.
